  • SLI NEWS BRIEFS ...

DERELICT PROPERTIES ON SLI GROUNDS received notices last week of their violation of housing codes within the SLI. This is part of a new emphasis on getting all properties up to basic standard so as to be a community "pleasant to the eye," particularly as we continue to invite new folks to be our guests and visitors. Others simply want the surrounding property values protected. Either way, the Grounds Committee and SLI Board has accepted the challenge.

THE SLI GARBAGE TRANSFER STATION also, to the chagrin of the DEC, known as "the dump," continues to be used as a public dumping grounds and becomes quite a mess at times, demanding extra hours to clean it up and pack extra garbage and trash by hand, some even from other communities. A new Dumster Committee has been formed and is studying possible solutions.

EVEN THOUGH PARKING IS PERMIT-TED on Ames Avenue from September through June, the basic walkway is not to be blocked by cars, as per the 1980 shared road understanding. Ames has a total legal width of 16.5 feet including the right-of-way. If this does not square with your Property Survey, please get in touch with neighborhood "rep" Greg Franklin at 585-444-7384 so contradictions can be studied and adjustments can be made.
