Ruby M. Long McIntyre

September 9, 1918 - July 10, 2017
Age 98, died Monday, July 10, 2017 in her home surrounded by her family.
Born September 9, 1918 in Newstead, NY (Akron) and later graduated from Akron High School in 1937. She went on to graduate from Buffalo School of Beauty Culture, purchased, owned, and operated Ruby’s Beauty Shop in Hamburg, NY. She married Howard McIntyre in 1949 and happily continued as a farm wife for Mac’s Farms, where she spent many years enjoying, establishing, and watching her husband and children participate in Wyoming County Show events.

Ruby was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Perry, NY, always believing in only one God, but many paths to Him. She was a member of Eastern Star, Mutual Friends Club, and a charter member of the Perry Garden Club. An artist, she enjoyed rug hooking, creating her own scenes, dying, and hooking wool hangings. She also delighted in bird watching and squirrel chasing.
In her later years, she was an integral part in raising her granddaughter, and until her last breath, always desired to help others before herself.
She is survived by a son, David P. McIntyre; a daughter, Peg A. McIntyre; granddaughters, Lindsay (Bonadonna) Shearing and Abbey Bonadonna; great grandchildren, Isaac Shearing, Grace Shearing, Caleb Hutsen, and Addison Hutsen; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband (1973), and siblings, Vernon (Bernice) Long and Doris (Ward) Sievenpiper.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ever supportive Wyoming County Office for the Aging, 8 Perry Ave., Warsaw, NY. There are no calling hours. Private services to be held at the convenience of the family.
